This event invitation design Singapore project was created for Sam Sui Wui Kun for the opening of their new building, Samsui@connect. It was an important milestone for the organisation, with Dr Tan See Leng attending as the Guest-of-Honour, and the event also taking place during Singapore’s SG60 year.
The client was more familiar with traditional, straightforward visual styles, but for this event they wanted something fresher, more elegant and modern. The challenge was to retain a sense of formality and heritage while giving the invitation a lighter and more contemporary appearance.
I developed three event invitation design proposals with different visual directions. The selected concept used a bright, airy composition with soft blue tones, generous white space and a strong red SG60 accent. The new building was featured prominently as the key visual so that the purpose of the invitation could be understood almost immediately, even before reading the event details.
The final design created a balance between heritage, celebration and modernity. The clean layout kept the information easy to scan, while the building photography, bilingual typography and SG60 red accent gave the invitation a distinctive identity that felt suitable for a significant grand opening event
