Packaging needs to attract attention, communicate clearly and work in production. I am Serene Soh, a freelance packaging designer in Singapore, creating labels, boxes, pouches and other packaging for new products, range extensions and brand refreshes.

Packaging That Works Beyond the Mock-up
A packaging design may look attractive on screen, but it also needs to function once it is printed, folded, filled, displayed and viewed alongside competing products.
I consider the hierarchy of the front panel, the legibility of supporting information, the relationship between different variants and how the design fits the supplied dieline. I also prepare artwork with production in mind, including colour modes, bleed, image resolution and print specifications.
The result should feel consistent with the brand while making the product and its most important information easy to recognise.
From Label to Complete Product Range
Every product comes with a different packaging mission. Whether you need a single label, a complete product identity or a coordinated range of variants, explore the services below to find the right support for your project.
Box and Carton Design
Packaging artwork for folding cartons, product boxes, sleeves and shipping-related presentation packaging, developed according to the required dimensions and dieline.
Pouch and Flexible Packaging
Design for resealable pouches, sachets and other flexible formats, with careful consideration of seams, folds, viewing areas and the placement of required information.
Packaging Refresh and Range Extension
An update for packaging that feels dated or inconsistent, as well as new variants designed to fit an existing product family. Where appropriate, I retain recognisable elements while improving hierarchy and visual consistency.
New Product Branding
For products that do not yet have an established identity, I can develop the logo and packaging together so the brand feels coherent from the beginning.
Dieline and Production Artwork
If a printer supplies the dieline, I can build the design directly onto it. Where a straightforward box needs to be measured and drawn, I can create the dieline based on the confirmed dimensions. Complex structural packaging may require input from the packaging manufacturer or structural designer.
Supporting Product Materials
Instruction manuals, inserts, stickers, display materials, product brochures and digital launch assets can be designed to match the finished packaging.
From Product to Shelf
Understanding the Product
We begin with the product, audience, positioning, packaging format and sales environment. I also review the brand identity, required content, dimensions or dieline, production details and planned product variants.
Developing the Creative Direction
I develop initial concepts exploring the visual hierarchy, brand expression, colours and key front-facing information. Realistic mock-ups may also be used to help you visualise the proposed packaging.
Refining and Extending the Design
Once a direction is selected, we refine the design and extend it across the remaining panels and product variants. Content placement, visual consistency and practical production details are checked carefully.
Preparing Final Artwork
After approval, I prepare the print-ready artwork and can liaise with your printer or packaging supplier. The client remains responsible for confirming the accuracy and regulatory compliance of all supplied content.
The Power Behind the Packaging
I look at the packaging as part of the overall identity. This helps the product feel consistent across its logo, colour, typography, supporting materials and future variants.
You discuss the project directly with me from brief to final artwork. This is particularly useful when product details, printer specifications and revisions need to be coordinated carefully.
The design needs to attract attention, but it also needs to remain readable and workable on the actual packaging format. I consider both the presentation and the practical constraints of production.
Once the visual system is established, I can extend it across flavours, sizes, product types and supporting campaign materials while maintaining a consistent family resemblance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need to begin a packaging project?
I will need the packaging type and dimensions, a printer-supplied dieline if available, the final text and product information, logo and brand assets, barcode, required images and details of any variants. Please also share references and explain where the product will be sold.
Can you create the dieline?
For a straightforward box, I can draw a dieline from confirmed measurements. For specialised structures, closures or materials, the manufacturer should supply a tested production dieline. This helps ensure that the structure can be manufactured and assembled correctly.
How long does packaging design take?
A single straightforward packaging design generally takes around two weeks: approximately one week for the initial concepts and another for refinement and final artwork. Product ranges, incomplete content, new branding or complex production requirements will require more time. The schedule will be confirmed after reviewing the scope.
Can you arrange printing or packaging production?
I do not manufacture packaging, but I can help communicate with your printer or recommend a suitable supplier where possible. You may also appoint your own printer, and I will prepare the artwork according to their specifications.
Can you design several product variants?
Yes. I can establish the main packaging direction and then extend it across different flavours, sizes or product types. A clear system for colour, imagery and information helps each variant remain distinct while belonging to the same range.
Can you design the instruction manual or insert?
Yes. Manuals, inserts, stickers and supporting printed materials can be designed to complement the packaging. You will need to supply the approved text, translations, diagrams and any required technical or regulatory content.
What file formats will I receive?
Final production artwork is generally supplied as print-ready PDF together with the relevant Adobe Illustrator working file and linked assets. EPS or other formats can be prepared if required by the printer. Presentation mock-ups can also be supplied for internal approval or marketing use.
Do you check packaging regulations?
I can organise the information supplied and flag obvious layout or legibility concerns, but the client is responsible for confirming that all claims, ingredients, warnings, barcodes and mandatory statements are accurate and comply with the relevant regulations before printing.
How much does packaging design cost?
The fee depends on the packaging format, number of concepts, number of variants, dieline requirements and whether branding or supporting materials are included. Send me the available information and I will prepare a quotation based on the scope.
